Kuppathukundru (Thandarai), Kancheepuram , Tamil Nadu 603403

Kuppathukundru is a habitation in Thandarai Village Panchayat in Kancheepuram district in Tamil Nadu. Located just next to a famous Asan memorial Engineering college - but has been deprived of any kind of help & support.

Irulas are noted as Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG). Traditionally they are snake catchers but after the passing of Indian Wildlife Act they have suffered a lot. The degradation of forests along the coast affected the life of Irulars. They are forced to take up alternative livelihood. They are struggling hard to preserve their culture and tradition.
